Notice of Election To Create A New Taxing District

NOTICE OF ELECTION TO CREATE A NEW TAXING DISTRICT

Pursuant to Idaho Code #39-2812, on June 15th, 2007, the Board of Power County Commissioners adopted a Resolution creating an emergency County-wide interim (two-year) mosquito abatement district to control West Nile Virus. The question to make this a permanent abatement district will be put before the voters in conjunction with the 2008 General Election on November 4th, 2008. Polling places will be open on November 4th, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and are as follows:

Power County Precinct # 1 - Emergency Services Building
560 North Oregon Trail, American Falls, Idaho

Power County Precinct #2 - Hillcrest Elementary School
1045 Bennett Avenue, American Falls, Idaho

Power County Precinct #3 - William Thomas Middle School
355 Bannock A venue, American Falls, Idaho

Power County Precinct #4 - Rockland City Hall
Main Street, Rockland, Idaho

Power County Precinct #5 - Arbon Elementary School
Arbon Valley, Idaho

Power County Precinct #6 - Pocatello Municipal Airport
Eastern Power County, Idaho

Absentee ballots for said election are also available at the office of the Power County Clerk, Power County Courthouse, 543 Bannock Avenue, American Falls, Idaho, 83211.

The maximum amount of taxes that may be raised by the proposed MOSQUITO ABATEMENT DISTRICT is $625,000. The tax increase that would occur on that amount, as calculated by the Power County Assessor, is one hundred dollars ($100) per one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) of taxable value, above any exemptions.

Power County Proposed FY2009 Budget

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Commissioners of Power County, Idaho, will meet on Monday, August 25th, 2008, at the hour of 5:00 p.m., in the Commissioners Meeting Room of the Power County Courthouse, 543 Bannock Avenue, American Falls, Idaho, for the purpose of considering and fixing a final budget and making appropriations to each office, department, service agency or institution and fund for Fiscal Year 2009, at which time any person may appear and be heard upon any part or parts of said budget; and that the following tables set forth the amounts expended for “salaries”, “benefits” and “other expenses” during fiscal years 2006, 2007 and 2008 by said departments.
