NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: That the General Election to be held in and for the City of Pocatello, Idaho will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The Election is held for the purpose of electing a Mayor and three (3) Council members for individual terms of four years. On Election Day, the polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following designated polling places:

Candidate Filing Begins For City Of Pocatello

CANDIDATE FILING BEGINS FOR CITY OF POCATELLO

First Day to File for Candidacy is August 24, 2009

The general election to be held in and for the City of Pocatello, Idaho will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The election will be held for the purpose of electing a mayor for a term of four years and council member seats 4, 5 and 6 for terms of four years.

The first date for filing a declaration of candidacy is Monday, August 24, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. Declaration of Candidacy forms will be available in the Mayor’s Office at Pocatello City Hall, 911 North 7th Avenue, from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last date for filing a Declaration of Candidacy is Friday, September 4, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

Candidates for city elected office are required to file a Declaration of Candidacy with the city clerk accompanied by: 1) a nonrefundable filing fee of $40.00; or 2) a petition of candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors that have been verified by the county clerk’s office.

In addition the candidate affirms:

  • they are a qualified elector
  • at least 18 years of age
  • a U.S. citizen
  • the candidate’s primary residence must be within the city limits
  • the address of the candidate’s voter registration must match the residence address provided on the candidate’s declaration, and
  • the candidate must be a resident of the city for at least 30 days prior to submitting their declaration
