The filing period for the Nov. 3, Preston City general election opens Monday, Aug. 24 and closed on Friday, Sept. 4 at 5:00 p.m. Three council seats are up for election. Two are four-year terms and one is for a two-year term.
Candidates are required to file a Declaration of Candidacy, specifying the office sought and affirming the individual is a qualified city elector, according to information from the city clerk’s office.
A qualified city elector means:
- being at least 18 years of age,
- a U.S. citizen,
- the candidate’s primary residence must be within the city,
- the address of the candidate’s voter registration must match the residence address provided on the candidate’s declaration,
- the candidate must be a resident of the city for at least 30 days prior to submitting the declaration.
The Declaration of Candidacy must be accompanied by a nonrefundable filing fee of $40, or a petition of candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors that has been verified by the County Clerk’s office.
Declarations of Candidacy are available at City Hall in the office of the city clerk, 70 W. Oneida, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The election is held for the purpose of electing a mayor and two councilmembers for a term of four years. Candidates for city elected office are required to file a declaration of candidacy with the city clerk, accompanied by: (1) a nonrefundable filing fee of $40 or (2) a petition of candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors that has been verified by the county clerk’s office. Candidate filing for the City of Grace will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 24 for the general election to be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The following positions will be up for election:
Mayor for a four year term
Two council seats, both for four year terms
Declaration of candidacy must be filed between August 24 and Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. along with a nonrefundable filing fee of $40 or a petition of candidacy signed by at least five qualified city electors.

Two Malad City Council positions will be voted on when elections are held November 3, 2009.
Malad City Council members server 4-year terms.
Anyone living within the city limits is eligible to run for election as long as they have resided in Malad for at least 30 days and are 18 or older.
The filing period will run from Monday, August 24, 2009 to Friday, September 4, 2009 at 5 p.m.

First Day to File for Candidacy is August 24, 2009
The general election to be held in and for the City of Pocatello, Idaho will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009. The election will be held for the purpose of electing a mayor for a term of four years and council member seats 4, 5 and 6 for terms of four years.
The first date for filing a declaration of candidacy is Monday, August 24, 2009 at 8:00 a.m. Declaration of Candidacy forms will be available in the Mayor’s Office at Pocatello City Hall, 911 North 7th Avenue, from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last date for filing a Declaration of Candidacy is Friday, September 4, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.
